March 11: Virtual Session: "Latin American Women in HPC"
On March 11, the virtual talk "Latin American Women in HPC" will take place. This initiative is part of the actions derived from the CARLA2024 meeting, organized by the Advanced Computing Network of Latin America and the Caribbean (SCALAC). The event aims to promote the inclusion and development of women in the field of supercomputing in the region.
The session will be moderated by Tania Altamirano, Academic Relations Manager at RedCLARA, and will feature prominent representatives from the high-performance computing (HPC) community from countries such as Jamaica, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, and Argentina.
The "Latin American Women in HPC" webinar will provide a platform to foster the growth of the advanced computing community in Latin America, promoting the exchange and dissemination of new ideas, techniques, and research in HPC and AI-HPC. In particular, the event will highlight the profiles of women who study and/or work in the field of supercomputing, helping to showcase their achievements and encourage greater female participation in this discipline.
The session is organized by renowned professionals in the field, including Paola Buitrago (Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center), Paula Verhelet (University of Buenos Aires, Argentina), Carla Osthoff (National Laboratory for Scientific Computing, Brazil), Tania Altamirano (RedCLARA, Chile), Lizette Robles and Angie Fernández (University of Guadalajara - UDG-CADS, Mexico), and Carmen Heras (University of Sonora - UNISON, Mexico).
The event is open to everyone interested in high-performance computing. To participate, interested individuals can register at the following link: Event Registration
