Ten proposals have been selected as a result of the Call for Ideas launched last March by the SPIDER project and RedCLARA, aimed at fostering the strategic use of BELLA. This initiative seeks to promote a human-centered digital transformation through cooperation between the European Union and Latin America and the Caribbean (EU–LAC). The selected ideas, originating from various countries across both regions, stood out for their innovation, technical feasibility, and alignment with BELLA’s strategic objectives.

TICAL2025, RedCLARA's flagship event, will be held from November 11 to 13, 2025, at the Hotel DoubleTree by Hilton Cariari, en San José, Costa Rica. This new edition will bring together experts, academics, technology sector leaders, and representatives of national research and education networks from across Latin America and the Caribbean, establishing itself as a key space for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the promotion of digital transformation in the region.

With the active participation of multidisciplinary teams and the support of national and international institutions, the “Tracing the Source: Satellite Innovation for Identifying Pollution in the Motagua River Basin” Hackathon officially began on May 5. The event is organized by the Copernicus Academy Guatemala and promoted by RedCLARA and the BELLA II program, with the support of the European Union’s Copernicus Program.

With the aim of strengthening ties between science and policy, four experts shared key experiences on how to bring scientific knowledge closer to government processes in Latin America and the Caribbean during a roundtable held as part of the course “Science for Public Policy: Strategies for Science Diplomacy and Scientific Advice” in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The Latin American High Performance Computing Conference (CARLA) 2025 has announced that the call for research paper submissions in the field of High Performance Computing (HPC) and related areas is now open. The invitation is extended to researchers, professionals, and students interested in sharing their advancements and contributing to the development of advanced computing in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Copernicus Academy Guatemala invites you to participate in the Hackathon “Tracing the Source: Satellite Innovation for Identifying Pollution Sources in the Motagua River Basin,” taking place from April 28 to May 16, 2025. The event aims to identify and visualize pollution sources in the basin in order to develop innovative solutions to mitigate their environmental impact.
