The BELLA II project, implemented by RedCLARA and funded by UE’s DG INTPA, aims to contribute to overcoming the digital divide in the region to transform the lives of all people and prompt the countries' development. After the successful BELLA project, which achieved a direct submarine connection between Europe and Latin America, and the improvement of the South American linkage of RedCLARA, BELLA II will promote the strengthening of the Latin American and Caribbean digital ecosystem, through state-of-the-art connectivity, to leverage the development of science, academy, and regional innovation

 

LACNet, the international association that promotes the first blockchain infrastructure for inclusive and scalable solutions on Web 3.0, celebrated its first anniversary on the 27th of February. LACNet is the result of the alliance between RedCLARA and LACNIC, in collaboration with the IDB Lab, within the framework of the LACChain regional programme.The LACNet Network promotes an inclusive, efficient, and secure blockchain ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean through LACChain networks.

On March 21st and 22nd, RedCLARA - in the framework of the BELLA II Programme - will hold the "Copernicus Innovation Challenge" Ideathon, aiming to bring together experts from all over the world to develop ideas that help Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe to promote the use of Copernicus data in addressing major challenges related to risk management, environment, climate change, water and land management and food security.

Collaboration on the Internet and the strengthened commitment in the region have been the central themes of the first meeting of 2023 of the Organizations of the Technical Community of Latin America and the Caribbean. Representatives of seven organizations met from January 26 to 27 in Montevideo to engage in a dialogue on relevant issues for all organizations, as well as the major priorities of each organization for this year and conceptualize common actions.

LACNIC extends an invitation to the Latin American Internet community to participate in its call for presentations to be included in the LACNIC Technical Forum agenda for its upcoming event, LACNIC 39, to be held in the city of Mérida, Mexico, on 8 to 12 May 2023. The deadline is February 16th.
