RedCLARA News - 2004/2010

EXPReS - TERENA 2008Members of the EXPReS project (Express Production Real-time e-VLBI Service) on May 22nd will use multiple data networks to connect telescopes in South America, North America, Africa and Europe to a central data correlator in the Netherlands, simulating a telescope over 13,000 kilometers in diameter. This real-time virtual telescope will be possible thanks to the capacities of the interconnected RedCLARA, GÉANT2, Netherlight, Belnet, Internet2 and StarLight advanced networks.

  • EELA-2 - logo EELA-2 (E-science grid facility for Europe and Latin America) started on April 1st 2008 and was officially launched during its Kick-off Meeting (KoM) that was held between April 20th to 23rd at the Meliá Trujillo Boutique Hotel in Trujillo, the old Spanish city where CETA-CIEMAT is located.

    • EVALSO - logoStarted in January, the EVALSO (Enabling Virtual Access to Latin-America Southern Observatories) project's role is to enable virtual access to the Latin-America Southern Observatories, by means of the connection of the Chilean NREN, REUNA, to the RedCLARA network and through it to GÉANT2. World-class experimental facilities are often placed in remote sites which makes the exploitation of these facilities socially and economically difficult. European research community depends on these facilities to maintain its role and in this light networking technologies can play a significant role.

    Portada libro RedCLARANetworks of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and other relevant cooperation institutions are invited to prepare applications for grant funding under the new programme on higher education cooperation for Latin America (LA). Projects will include "Joint Partnerships" of European and LA institutions and "Structural Measures" that aim to reform education systems in LA (c.f. ALFA III- 1st Call for Proposals). Deadline for proposals' presentation: 16 June 2008.
