During the last 20th of June, in Asunción, and counting on the presence of the national President, Horacio Cartes, the Minister of the National Secretariat of Information and Communication Technologies (Senatics), David Ocampos, of executive authorities and researchers, and of Eduardo Grizendi, member of RedCLARA’s directive council and Director of Engineering and operations of RNP, the Paraguayan academic network ARANDU was reopened and celebrated its connection to RedCLARA.

The paraguayan connection to the Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks (CLARA) was expected for many years and is the result of a work begun during the ALICE project and continued in ALICE2; it has always been one of the persistent aims of RedCLARA. The alliance will be through the Academic Advanced Network ARANDU and allows the country to get access to a technology infrastructure for high performance research, development, innovation and education.

The minister David Ocampos celebrated the connection to the advanced Latin American network. "Now, a Paraguayan researcher can postulate in any of the thousands of projects that are opened worldwide and be part of research teams that include scientists from different countries. Also, being connected to RedCLARA, researchers can make real their designs and prototypes, using all the resources available worldwide, such as simulators, supercomputers, etc”.

Through video, the Executive Director of RedCLARA, Florencio Utreras said. "Today we managed to connect Paraguay, which is a victory for many people. I'm happy because we can integrate them to the collaboration of our organization activities because RedCLARA is a collaborative network that favors the development of collaborative projects between researchers, between institutions of universities, including research centers throughout the region and, from it, for the whole world”, stated Utreras.

The relaunch event of the paraguayan academic network and its connection to RedCLARA was organized by SENATICs, CONACYT and ITAIPU Binational, with the support of the National University, the Association of Private Universities and COPACO.

The survey is an initiative of the Community “INNOVACION ICT” in teaching, which brings together leaders of various institutions of Latin America.

This 2-hour webinar will present a five-step model that can be applied by individual researchers or projects who wish to improve their international footprint and make the outputs of their work more visibile and available for use. MAGIC Project invites all the interested to join a webinar on Science Communication, to be held next June 30, between 13h and 15h GMT. The event will count on the participation of Michelle Wilmers, the Curation and Dissemination Manager of the Global South Research on Open Educational Resources for Development (ROER4D) project.

During the two hours, participants will be equipped with a variety of approaches to communicate the outputs of their work in more visible and available ways to various audiences (e.g policy makers, stakeholders, funders, and media).

The conference will be held between September 13 and 15, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

On this ocasion, some prominent university researchers from various countries of the region will present their views and experiences on IoT.

Because of a series of conferences that will address the impact of the Internet of Things (IoT) in Latin America, RedCLARA and LACNOG will held on July 6, between 14:30 and 17:30 GMT, the Virtual Day on Internet of Things in Latin America. The event will feature speakers from Colombia, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.

All the interested are invited to participate by videoconference or streaming, and discuss the role of IoT in areas such as research and development, trade, industry and standardization.

The meeting, an initiative of the mexican advanced network, CUDI, in partnership with RedCLARA, will take place via videoconference and streaming from Mexico at 10h (GMT-5) and addresses issues concerning the sixth edition of the Conference. All the interested people are invited to participate.

In this Information Day, Luis Alberto Gutierrez, General Coordinator of Information Technology of the University of Guadalajara, President of the Board of Directors of CUDI and member of the Programme Committee of TICAL2016, along with Carmen Gloria Labbé, Deputy CEO of RedCLARA, will present to the academic and research community of Mexico, the objectives and themes of the Conference, and, of course, the benefits that RedCLARA offers to ensure the participation of those whose submitted proposals to the calls result selected.

The TICAL Conference will hold its sixth edition in Buenos Aires, Argentina, between September 13 and 15. Unique in its kind, since 2011 TICAL brings together the Directors of Information and Communication Technologies in Latin America to discuss the issues that compromise their role and work at the universities in the region and strengthen the continuous improvement of the institutions.
