In order to inquire about the possible interest of the Latin American upper houses of study of having a set of academic services in a cloud, RedCLARA and its partner networks invite IT Directors of universities in the region to answer this survey. As a way to acknowledge, between the participating Directors will be riffle five full grants (including airfare, accommodation and registration) to be part of TICAL 2012.

During 2010 COMCLARA benefited Urdimbre - an education and research community formed by 13 universities from the region – with resources that helped it to strength its core and to explore new ways of teaching and researching, for example the creation of virtual schools. “RedCLARA's support has been determinant for this community that's now facing new challenges based on joint participation”, says Blanca Ruth Orantes, Research Director at the Technological University of El Salvador, and one of the Urdimbre's specialists who carried out the survey about the challenges involved in the creation of a regional research community. In this interview, Orantes explains how research and education networks are fundamental for the advance of this and other relevant initiatives in Latin America.

 

Prof. Kutanov is the Regional Cooordinator of the Central Asian Research and Education Network Project, CAREN, and also an academician of the  National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. As leader of CAREN we asked him to share with RedCLARA his views about the role of research and education networks  and the importance of global collaboration, and this interview is the result of his acceptance to this invitation.
