CUDI and REUNA bring together the region’s CISOs to strengthen university cybersecurity

As part of the 10th CUDI Cybersecurity Conference, a meeting of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) from higher education institutions (HEIs) that are members of CUDI and REUNA will be held on 23 and 24 September, with the aim of promoting the exchange of experiences, challenges and best practices in the field of cybersecurity.

(Source: CUDI) This event aims to strengthen institutional capacities to tackle current challenges by developing robust and collaborative strategies.

During the meeting, interactive sessions will be held, designed to share, learn and relearn, fostering a common vision of the outlook and priorities in cybersecurity from the perspective of both the CISOs and the participating speakers.

The meeting will be organised jointly by Mexico and Chile, with the Autonomous University of Chihuahua (UACh) serving as the physical venue, and will feature welcoming addresses by Ms Claudia Inostroza (REUNA), Dr Moisés Torres (CUDI) and Mr Mónico Payán (UACh).

Key topics to be addressed in the CISOs’ Forum include: Post-Quantum Cryptography, with Jorge Osorio Bretón, president of the (ISC)² Mexico City chapter; Protection of Personal Data and its implications for higher education institutions, with Ivonne Muñoz (ITLawyer, Mexico) and Carlos Reusser (REUNA, Chile); Human Risk, with Juan Carlos Paris Balleza (Talento Sin Fronteras); Passwords, with Marcelo Maraboli (REUNA); and Training to Tackle the Challenges of the Modern Campus, with Cristina Meneses (CertJoin), amongst other presentations.

In the UACh Auditorium, the event will also feature talks such as Cybersecurity Posture in the Cloud (Alejandro Rodríguez, Qualys), ‘Beyond Detection: Actionable Cyber Intelligence for Security in the Digital World’ and ‘Convergent Cyber Intelligence: Anticipating, Protecting and Responding in the New Digital Era’ (both with Alberto Vázquez, Infoblox), ‘Regional Cybersecurity Initiatives’ (Carlos González, Red CLARA), ‘What Threats Is Your University Missing? From Alert to Action Plan (David González, Sangfor) and Cybersecurity Automation in the Mythos Era (Rodrigo Moreno, Qualys).

The meeting will conclude on Thursday 24 September with closing remarks by Alejandro Lara (REUNA) and Fernando Aranda (CUDI), following two days of collaborative work between the academic communities of Mexico and Chile.
