EU-ALC Workshop on Digital Investments and Cybersecurity
The D4D Hub (Digital for Development Hub), in collaboration with the EU-LAC Digital Alliance and under the framework of Global Gateway, will hold a workshop focused on digital investments and cybersecurity. The event aims to strengthen digital cooperation between the European Union (EU) and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and will take place on April 9 and 10, 2025, at the Spanish Cooperation Training Center in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
RedCLARA, as a driver of connectivity and digital development in the region, will participate in the workshop, contributing its expertise in improving digital infrastructure, regional collaboration, and strengthening cybersecurity. Its participation will enrich the dialogue on investment opportunities in the digital sector and solutions to enhance connectivity in LAC, aligned with the EU’s Global Gateway strategy objectives.
The workshop will focus on promoting connectivity and digitization in both regions, with particular emphasis on cybersecurity. During the event, key digital investment opportunities will be explored, and innovative solutions to improve digital security, a critical issue for both the EU and LAC, will be discussed. The event will also serve as a platform to establish a cybersecurity community of practice to strengthen technical and strategic ties between stakeholders in both regions.
Under the Global Gateway framework, the EU’s strategy to reinforce smart, clean, and secure connections in the digital, energy, and transport sectors and strengthen health, education, and research systems globally, this workshop represents a key step towards a more integrated digital investment strategy in LAC.
The event will address the current landscape of digital investments, identifying challenges and proposing innovative solutions. Strategic sectors and investment opportunities for the region will be prioritized, and a roadmap will be developed to facilitate high-level political dialogue and future collaborations between the EU and LAC.
The workshop audience will include technical experts and policymakers from the public sector in areas such as development cooperation, telecommunications, the economy, and related government agencies. Development finance institutions, regional organizations, private sector actors such as companies and investors from both regions, and academics, especially researchers and experts in digitization and cybersecurity, will also be present.
