Webinar on collaborative strategies for DNS security
As part of its commitment to strengthening cybersecurity in academic and research environments, RedCLARA, together with the Regional Cybersecurity Group of Research and Education Networks of Latin America and the Caribbean (eduLACSeg), is organizing the webinar, "Implementing pDNSSOC: Strategies for DNS Security through Collaboration".
Institutions associated with National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) in Latin America and the Caribbean are the target audience for this exclusive event.
The webinar will take place on February 7 and will be led by Alejandro del Brocco, a renowned technology and security expert from Argentina's Association of University Interconnection Networks (ARIU), along with his team. The session will include a practical case study on the implementation of pDNSSOC and share effective strategies to strengthen cybersecurity within participating institutions.
It is a collaborative tool designed to detect cyber threats in DNS traffic—the system responsible for translating domain names into IP addresses. pDNSSOC helps find possible infections on the devices that are sending these queries by looking at DNS queries and comparing them with lists of known malicious domains and IP addresses. Its adoption not only enhances internal security but also protects the broader educational and research ecosystem regionally.
The webinar will highlight the benefits of pDNSSOC in threat detection and prevention, showcase ARIU's practical strategy in Argentina, and foster collaboration among NRENs across the region.
This initiative aligns with commitments made during TICAL 2024 and discussions held in December 2023 among EduLACSeg participants interested in deploying this tool. CUDI, Mexico's national research and education network, also supports and coordinates the event.
Participation is exclusively open to NREN-affiliated institutions interested in the MISP/pDNSSOC project. RedCLARA invites networks and their members to join this initiative to build a safer and more resilient digital environment against growing cyber threats.
