28 October: CILAC and ECLAC invite participants to reflect on regional science, technology and innovation agendas

On 28 October, the Open Forum for Science in Latin America and the Caribbean (CILAC) and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will hold a new virtual meeting as part of the #CienciaEnMovimiento series, dedicated to analysing the priorities, challenges and opportunities for regional cooperation in science, technology and innovation (STI) in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The event will also serve as a preparatory meeting for the Fifth Meeting of the Conference on Science, Innovation and ICT (CITIC) and the CILAC Forum 2026, which will take place in Brasília, Brazil, in November. During the colloquium, key issues will be addressed to strengthen the contribution of STI to the region’s sustainable and inclusive productive development, as well as opportunities for coordination between regional organisations.

The panel will feature Gonzalo Rivas (IDB), Ana Capilla (OEI), Nicolo Gligo (ECLAC) and Guillermo Anlló (UNESCO), who will share their perspectives on the future of regional science, technology and innovation agendas.

The event will take place online on 28 October at 12:00 (GMT-3) and 10:00 (GMT-5).
