27–29 October: CEDS 2026 will promote space cooperation between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe

The event will bring together leading figures from the public, academic and industrial sectors in Santiago, Chile, to strengthen cooperation on Earth observation and space technologies between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe.

The second edition of the International Conference on Space and Sustainable Development (CEDS 2026) will take place from 27 to 29 October 2026 at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences building of the University of Chile, in central Santiago. The event will promote regional and international cooperation to advance peaceful, responsible and sustainable space development.

The conference will bring together representatives from the public sector, academia, international organisations and industry to discuss space science and technology, industrial innovation and cooperation. Among the first confirmed speakers are Marco Antonio Chamon, President of the Brazilian Space Agency; Ilona Zabrytska, Head of European Union Policy at Eurospace; and Inge Jonckheere, Head of the Green Solutions Division at the European Space Agency.

Organised by CopernicusLAC Chile – an initiative of the European Union and the University of Chile – CEDS 2026 aims to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and capabilities in Earth observation and space technologies between Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. Its programme will include plenary sessions, round tables and panels aimed at expanding opportunities for bi-regional collaboration.
