Established the connection Porto Alegre - Buenos Aires

Expired

After a series of negotiations, the installation of the equipment and infrastructure of optical connection between RNP and RedCLARA by Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil) was completed. The initial binding of 1 Gb/s links the Point of Presence (PoP) of RedCLARA in Buenos Aires with the point of presence of RNP in Porto Alegre, using the network infrastructure for research and education in the region. From Porto Alegre, the traffic use the Brazilian backbone, called Ipe network, to the PoP of RedCLARA PoP in Brazil, located in Sao Paulo.

According to the analyst of the Engineering and Operations Center of RedCLARA, Marco Teixeira, the link prevents that the traffic between Brazil and Argentina passes through Chile, reducing the network delay. As demand increases, the circuit will be upgraded up to 10 Gb/s. The circuit should start operating in October.
