This is the ninth year that LACLO, the Latin-American community of objects and learning technologies, calls on educational and learning technologies researchers, educational administrators, teachers and people interested in the development of educational technology in the region, to participate in the Latin American Congress of objects and learning technologies (LACLO 2014). This year, the event is organized for the first time in Colombia by Universidad Nacional, from 20 to 24 October in the beautiful city of Manizales, in the coffee region.
UNESCO is carrying out an extensive international consultation as part of the development of a global study of internet that will be presented at the 38th General Conference in November 2015, a follow-up to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS +10).

La actividad, que se desarrollará en el marco de la Semana Internacional del Acceso Abierto, está organizada en forma conjunta por la Secretaría Ejecutiva del Sistema Nacional de Repositorios Digitales - Biblioteca Electrónica de Ciencia y Tecnología del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Productiva de la República Argentina y el Instituto Brasileiro de Informaçao em Ciência e Tecnologia del Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação de la República Federativa del Brasil.
El programa incluye ocho presentaciones, a realizarse de forma virtual, dirigidas a investigadores, abogados especializados en propiedad intelectual, bibliotecarios, editores científicos, tomadores de decisión y todo aquel interesado en el Acceso Abierto.

The Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean (LACNIC) is organizing the upcoming LACNIC 22 / LACNOG 2014 regional event together with the Internet Society and NIC Chile. El 26 de septiembre de 2014 la Universidad Federal de Río Grande del Sol (UFRGS), la Empresa de Procesamiento de Datos del Municio de Porto Alegre (Procempa) y la red nacional de Brasil, RNP, firmaron un acuerdo para formalizar la habilitación del servicio eduroam, para el acceso seguro a la red inalámbrica en la ciudad de Porto Alegre para la comunidad académica. Con esta acción ésta se convierte en la primera ciudad de América latina en ofrecer el acceso a eduroam en lugares públicos para académicos, investigadores, estudiantes y miembros de las instituciones usuarios del servicio.
