October 11, 2018: RedCLARA opens a 100Gbps link between Chile, Panama and the United States
The new link that goes from Miami to Panama City and from there to Santiago, was made in collaboration with AmLight and completes the 100 Gbps ring that closes with the link that goes from Santiago to Sao Paulo and from there to Miami. Thus, the collaboration with the American AmLight project enables RedCLARA to substantially improve the capacity of its network.
The capacity of these links was previously of 10 Gbps, in this way, the agreement with AmLight allows to increase in 10 times the capacity in the central ring of the RedCLARA backbone.
RedCLARA is responsible for the implementation and management of the network infrastructure that interconnects the National Research and Education Networks (NREN) in Latin America, and, through them, to a large number of universities and research centers. Thus, scientific-academic communities, and many projects that lacked an adequate infrastructure to sustain their initiatives, are currently advancing, collaborating and contributing to the development of science, education, research and innovation in Latin America.
